New Must Reads

Hey y'all! Haven't posted for a while as I've been real busy, but hey, whats new?! I don't have as much free time as I would like these days so reading is always something that gets forgotten. I usually read at least a book a week but since i've been working like a maniac I can only read a chapter a day so it takes way longer to actually finish the book. Since my last book update I have only completed 2 books, which is way lame! However they were both rather good.

Finished Bergdorf Blondes by Plum Sykes about 2 weeks ago after quite a hiatus from it. It was good and totally superficial, pretty much like myself. However at times it was just a little too vacuous - but i suppose thats why you totally love Moi, Julie et al. You get tied up in a world that from the outside looks totally hot but in actaulity is rather lame. Zach, her first fiancee, was such a jerk. Could he have acted any more childish? Loser! Nice twist at the end (I won't give it away for those of you have not read it yet) though you kind of had your suspicions the more you read on. Gotta say I did enjoy it, and only bought it when I found out that it was one of Paris Hilton's fave books (not a respectable critic of literature I find!). It took a while to get into itn but once you did you just fell into the misshaps and misdeameanors along the way. Wouldn't rush to read it again though!

The other book i've read since was only finished in the last half hour and it was so fucking brilliant. The Lake of the Dead Languages by Carol Goodman is one of the best books that I have ever read. Its so beautifully written, full of suspense and a plot line that you only begin to figure out when you have about 50 pages left to go (quite a feat for most fiction these days!). Though the first few chapters make you grab your wrists and squirm, it gets less graphic and more intense. Written in two phases of the protag's life - her school life and her teaching life at Heart Lake - it sends you into a mystery of what really happened and whats really happening now. It was just so bloody brilliant and a must read for ANYONE! Just ordered one of her other books and hope that it lives up to this one!

Happy Reading Y'all!
