Fashion Weeks Have Kicked Off With A Hot Start!

From the hot shows (especially Bill Blass, Marc Jacobs and Zac Posen) in the Big Apple graced by the likes to Victoria Beckham, Mr and Mrs Demi Moore and Ashley Olsen to our side of the pond here in London, where the fashion elite are currently living it up (including Rachel Zoe - the creator of Zombie Zoe-ites Mischa Barton and Nicole Richie). So far the shows have been hot and sexiness has oozed off many a catwalk and into the crowds. We jet off at the end of the week and head into Milan for a few days then Paris closes another, what will be very eventful and inspiring month of high fashion. Looking forward to star spotting in the rows and being gobsmacked at the clothes. A full review will follow when it all wraps up (something we will be doing soon when this chilly weather hits us!)

Booker Prize Short List Announced

The annual Booker Prize short list was published this afternoon and shocked quite a few. David Mitchell's 'Black Swan Green' was pegged as the winner when the long list was announced last month but shockingly failed to make the shortlist. New favorite to win is Sarah Waters' 'The Night Watch' with odds of 6/4, (Ladbrookes) who was previously nominated back in 2002. Others that made the final top 6 are:
- The Inheritance of Loss - Kiran Desai (4/1)
- The Secret River - Kate Grenville (11/2)
- Carry Me Down - MJ Hyland (4/1)
- In The Country of Men - Hisham Matar (4/1)
- Mother's Milk - Edward St Aubyn (7/1)
The only first time novelist to make the list was Hisham Matar with his novel about a young boy growing up in Libya under Colonel Gadafi.
Last years winer was John Banville with the Sea. The winner will be announced on the 10th October.

Banning Models Because They Are Skinny!

Whilst flicking through BBC news this afternoon, I came across this article about Madrid fashion week, saying that models won't be hired if they have a BMI that is below 18. I think this is complete shit to be honest. This will stop perfectly healthy models (just skinny because of having fast metabolisms or whatever) from being hired just because their numbers do not add up! Yes, models can be too skinny but hello, thats what they are paid for. Come off it, but the clothes they have to show off would not look hot (and sizing never goes beyond a 12 anyway!) if they were any fatter. I can kind of see where they coming from slightly with the eating disorder bit and how easily swayed teens can push it too far after seeing completely bollocksed airbrushed pics but all models are healthy and they have to be if they are going to be doing such a demanding job - both physically and mentally. This ban is complete KAK !
Isnt what they are doing a form of sizism? I mean skinny people get completely torn to pieces if they say anything un-PC to or about a fat person, but for those who are waifish to be banned by these bureaucratic meatier birds from such an important calendar event, isn't that way more extreme?
