Booker Prize Short List Announced
The annual Booker Prize short list was published this afternoon and shocked quite a few. David Mitchell's 'Black Swan Green' was pegged as the winner when the long list was announced last month but shockingly failed to make the shortlist. New favorite to win is Sarah Waters' 'The Night Watch' with odds of 6/4, (Ladbrookes) who was previously nominated back in 2002. Others that made the final top 6 are:- The Inheritance of Loss - Kiran Desai (4/1)
- The Secret River - Kate Grenville (11/2)
- Carry Me Down - MJ Hyland (4/1)
- In The Country of Men - Hisham Matar (4/1)
- Mother's Milk - Edward St Aubyn (7/1)
The only first time novelist to make the list was Hisham Matar with his novel about a young boy growing up in Libya under Colonel Gadafi.
Last years winer was John Banville with the Sea. The winner will be announced on the 10th October.
