Books and Movies

Just finished Lauren Wolf's 'Diary of a Mad Bride' and found it rather funny. Its full of madness, sarcasm and thoughts that you should never say out loud! Now I can see why people get crazy around weddings. A future note to myself - hire a planner! Do not even think about doing it yourself!
I followed that up with 'Supermodel's Beauty Secrets' by
Victoria Nixon ( a woman who was apparently a model but whom I have never heard of!). To be honest it was actually rather poor. It was filled with things read in magazines a decade ago or things that were just common sense. However I did find out that if you rub your feet with neat vodka before a night of dancing, your shoes will not kill you - well, they probably will but you wont feel it, as the vodka numbs your feet. This was probably the only thing i didn't know beforehand. She has written a few other books similar to this but I am certainly in no rush to read them now, as this was rather a waste of time! Oh well!Watched 'The Notebook' this morning and it was fabulous. The director really captured Nicholas Sparks' novel - the scenery is exactly as you imagine when you read the book and Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling w
ere ideal casting for Noah and Allie. I cried when I read the book and I cried even more when I watched the film. I Love, Love, Love it! One of my fave films of all time.Speaking of overly romantic movies, I recently watched 'Out of Africa' and 'The Bridges of Madison County' - both star Meryl Streep (a fabulous actress and an absolutely beautiful woman). I liked both of these movies - especially the male heartthrobs as co-stars, Robert Redford and Clint Eastwood. However I had read Robert James Waller's book and the film though very close to the novel just didn't have the same power to it. I just didn't feel the passion as I did when I read the book. Oh well, you win some you lose some!
